FYI, there is a nike warehouse sale from today to 27 oct, up to 60% off! :) but dun bother finding court shoes coz i alr tried unless yr size is like 9.5 gasp. Its at macpherson. You can look at 17 oct life! newspaper for the advertisement. It's opened from 11am-7pm. YEP, it's not very big tho so dun keep yr expections up. I already got a sports bra at $29 :):) to the girls: we shall spam all the warehouse sales this year end coz they are bound to be clearance sales. WOOHOO. yeah man

Hey IP FB girls,

Firstly, today's game was a mixture of everything - comedy, action, dedication which is quite impressive in a sense. It was good to see some people really do what they were expected to and not so good to see some blur on the field. Never mind today's game. Its nobody's fault we lost.

So now that we have decided not to compete in the competion, I'd just like to let you know that y'all have come a long way till now. The journey, for some of you, started not more than 6 months ago, and to me if i really see you way back what you were 6 months ago and what u are now 6 months later, is quite an achievement and I am happy that everyone has learnt something or the other. This was our last tournament we played before the EOY's and trust me, you are the winners for me, regardless of what the scoreboards have been (haven't been) saying all the while. I haven't really thought of a training programe for y'all after the EOY's but I'll come out with something and of course, with Yan as our coach I am sure, we'll be better than ever...

I know there are some important things we lack. Attitude tops the lists and is desperately trying to do a slap shot at me. Notice how the A-Div girls play when they train (There is nobody laughing in the middle of the field...and many other things). As we train more we'll get over these things and shoot all these things for once.

I didn't take the duty to coach you all because I was forced to or what, but because, it helped me understand my own mistakes better when I saw y'all commit them, and what my coach (be it the seniors or even Yan) would expect from me in these situations. I started Floorball as a complete noob in IP and I have been through all that, maybe, you all as individual players are going through now. Ya. We should be greatful to all the experience we have all concentrated in the small library called VJFB. From our seniors to the teachers.

Oh and ya, I know Mr. Chow is a fun-going person. But when he is telling anything, just give it a thought - it will always have some useful piece of information. I mean, at first even i dint agree with him when he wanted to play the 1-1-2 formation in one of the matches. But later after the match, i realised that there was a reason behind him trying to make you play like that and it was quite important, and it would have been a useful tactic to play against strong teams (like the one we played today). I really wanted to ask y'all play that formation, but guess it dint just work out properly.

It is quite evident that each and everyone of you has what it takes to be a floorballer, but a bit more hard work into some specific details can make you even better, which i m sure, is what you are aiming for. I can list down individual strengths (which, NOT to my surprise, are more than the weaknesses) but FLOORBALL is a team game, and one player's strength is the team's strength and one player's weakness is the team's weakness.

I have enjoyed each and every moment with y'all, and i hope y'all feel the same and will continue to do the same in the NEXT year to come.

Come on girls, lets get the blood rushing and the adrenaline pumping in us...
There is a lot more to come...

and this isnt the end,
its the just the beginning.

[Details + Stuff]

Training tomorrow for E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E from 5 to 7 at school hall. Bring the usual towel, team bottle, stick/keeper suit, above-ankle socks and extra shirt (if you wanna change). All tees must be school-based alright, otherwise tan will scold :/

Note! : next thursday's meeting for floorballers. 4.15 at LT ava, wherever that is. Apparently, everyone is expected to come so yes, be there. Not too sure 'bout the guys, ask "Stupid Amos" (ahahhahahahaha.)

/attendance will be taken (by secretary?) and those who aren't able to make it must tell me like today. Which means you have five+ hours more.

Like other team games, Floorball requires the use of various skills and abilities. Important abilities are all the physical ones, motor skills, mental capacity, game understanding and social skills. The main physical ability is speed with different forms of motor skills combining to produce stick handling skills. In order to understand team play the player needs to have a good understanding about team tactics and the difference in roles.

Qualities of a go(VJ)od player

+ Motor skill

+ Endurance
+ Strength
+ Agility
+ Ball control
+ Passing skills
+ Mental capacity
+ Different roles in game play - Playing with a ball, Supporting a team member with a ball, Defending a player with a ball, Defending a player without a ball

BASIC SKILLS

Here is some information about the basic skills and techniques of Floorball. Little by little these skills become an integral part of the basic skills if trained properly and sufficiently.

Passing
+ Keep the ball close to the blade
+ After the pass the blade should point to the direction of pass
+ Keep a balanced stance
+ Keep your head up all the time to see the field
+ With a straight blade the passing is easier and more precise

Receiving the pass
+ Blade on the floor
+ Balanced stance
+ Keep your head up all the time to see the field
+ Try to touch the ball as smoothly as you can with soft and flexible hands

Shooting
+ Wrist shot: the ball touches the blade all the time
+ Slap shot: the blade touches the floor just before it hits the ball
+ Drag shot: the ball is dragged by the base of the blade without sound
+ Keep your head up

Protecting the ball
+ Player has a balanced stance
+ Use the body, feet and hands to protect the ball
+ The blade should cover the opponents side of the ball
+ Good control of the ball

Running with a ball
+ The ball touches the blade all the time
+ Light touch, not hitting
+ Be ready to pass from backhand and forehand
+ Protect the ball

Faking
+ Develop ball handling skills as well as you can

this is not a place where y'all should be emo'ing, in fact HERE is where you should be proud of what you do, being a part of the VJFloorball family. Okay?

Please do not be sad about what happens in the court. What happens in the court, remains in the court. All you have to take with you is the learning experience. Every single one of you in the IP Girls team have some potential ("some" is just not the correct word, should be - "a hell lot of"), and that is probably why you are a part of VJ Floorball. Instead of talking about "you-not-having-played-your-best-then-feel-sad" story, I'll be more glad, if y'all think of ways on how to improve where you went wrong.

After reflecting after some of the things.
Guys, I TRUST YOU. Whenever you step inside the court representing VIP, you just have to get this thing dug up in your mind. I TRUST YOU. I have a good intent for y'all. I know each of your "positives" and "negatives". You may have always seen me criticizing your "negatives". You'll never (or at the most, a very few times) see me talking about your "positives". If not for me or anybody else from VJFb, who else will be even bothered to tell you your faults?? You make a mistake, I'll criticize it because I know that you are capable of learning more out from that mistake to get onto the track towards having more "positives". I will definitely go into details here.

Lets say, for example

Janice
She is a defender. She (according to me, is a "thinking" player). She THINKS in the game. Her THINKING might not always turn into action, but I know she has the solutions to game pressures in her mind, even though she may not have executed it. But she has it there in her head, and that is what is important. The executing part is what Yan (and the rest of the seniors) will guide you the best. I can only TRY to give you an insight that the EXECUTION is important. Rest is for you to apply (at this stage, where the game isnt that intense)

Annabel
She is a forward. She has the formation and the play up stored in her brain cells as PERMANENT MEMORY. And its quite obvious from her game that she follows it everytime she gets the ball. And to me that is half the battle won already. Execution, is then what she has to try to master.

FOR EVERYONE of YOU...

Firstly, I would like to apologise for not playing my usual best ytd.
I'm sorry for not running my way out throughout the entire game,
(Yes, I've to improve my stamina)
and having missed all my shots
(which yes, I'll train even harder) .

Next, I would like to remind all of us tt,
no matter what formation we've to follow,
we'll always play like how we train,
y'know the correct methods of dribbling, passing, marking of players, shooting.
I mean, we've to play based on how we want to win it,
and not just for the sake of playing it.
We really have to get used to

Awwww. Girls, today's match was. I don't know.

I just found it, disappointing. Honestly.

I mean, yes we did win and all, but ultimately it didn't feel like a victory. To me, anyway. This was the team we were supposed to trash, to pull our goal difference up. But in the end, we only beat them by two goals.

I'm sorry for not playing well today. I'm sorry for missing all the shots and stuff. I'm sorry for not going all out. I'm sorry for not wanting it hard enough.

I think I was just swearing half the time on court, really. Mainly at myself.

But let's not allow this to bother us alright! We still have two more matches to go; two more chances to prove ourselves.
